GEO Angel Brown Circle Lenses *review*

I also have a youtube video about these lenses, so check it out if you prefer watching videos over reading: click here for the video :)

My opinion about the GEO Angel Brown lenses:

  • COMFORT: 7/10 – These are wearable; however, they are the least comfortable of my circle lenses. I think it’s because of the blurry spot (see “vision” below)
  • VISION: 6/10 - I can see better with these on, but there is always a blurry spot when I look a certain direction. I’ve had these for months now, and it still hasn’t gone away. I think the Angel series lenses just don’t fit my eye.
  • COLOR: 7/10 – This color is very similar to my natural eye color, so it doesn’t give me a drastic color change. My eyes do appear lighter, especially in sunlight or in photos where a camera flash was used.
  • ENLARGEMENT: 8.5/10 – These lenses are 14.0 mm in diameter. They definitely make your eyes appear larger. The dark outer ring helps with the enlarging effect.
  • NATURAL LOOK: 7/10 – They look kind of natural because they are a darker brown color; however, the dark outer ring is a little too defi ned for a true “natural” look.

I was sitting very close to the window for this picture (natural sunlight, no flash):

I ordered these from www.pinkyparadise.com. Check out their site for prices and other lenses.  It took about 2 weeks from the time I placed my order to when I actually received it in the mail. They ship from Malaysia and I live on the East Coast in the USA.

I got a free contact lenses case with my purchase. They have all these different animal lens cases that are so adorable! I wanted a different animal, but since the case was complementary with the purchase, I couldn’t choose.

As always, let me know if you have any questions :)

GEO Nudy Blue Circle Lenses *review*

My opinion about the GEO Nudy Blue lenses:

  • COMFORT: 9/10 – I can barely feel that I am wearing any lenses. Keep in mind, most circle lenses are generally thicker than normal lenses.
  • VISION: 8/10 - I can see very well with these lenses. There is no blurry spot or vision obstruction. The only complain I have is that when I initially put them in, they shift around my eye for a bit (because there is still a lot of contact solution on the lenses). But once I wear them and blink for a minute, they settle on my eye and everything is great.
  • COLOR: 6/10 – I was expecting a brighter blue color, but these are actually quite subtle and look grey-ish unless you are closer than 2 feet from my eyes. I personally like the subtle color, but if you are looking for a brighter blue, these will not do the job.
  • ENLARGEMENT: 8/10 – these definitely make my eyes appear larger. The nudy series all have a significant enlarging effect.
  • NATURAL LOOK: 5/10 – Let’s be honest… For Asians, any color except dark brown would not look natural. But what I mean by natural is — would any HUMAN BEING have eyes that look like this ;p. These aren’t that natural looking because they have a speckled pattern. It is also one-tone and there is no gradient in color.

Information about the site I ordered from:

  • Most lenses are $16 per pair (OR $14 per pair if you order 2+ pairs)
  • Shipping time to the USA is ~ 2 weeks (ships from Singapore)
  • Shipping fees:
    - Normal Mail – $1.50 per lens (Add $0.50 each for additional lens)
    - Registered mail- Add S$3 on top of the Normal Mail
  • They DO have prescription circle lenses AND circle lenses for those with an astigmatism (toric lenses).  This is very hard to find!
  • Free contact lenses case with each purchase
  • GEO lenses come with authenticity sticker
  • Wide selection is available
  • TO PLACE YOUR ORDER, visit: www.splendid-stuffs.blogspot.com
  • FB site: http://www.facebook.com/caramel.colours

I also made a youtube video about these lenses.
Check it out if you’d like to see my eye color before and after:

My Current Face Makeup Routine

Here is my current Face Makeup Routine:

This is my daily face routine for when I’m heading to work. I generally go for a more natural look and since I am usually pressed for time. Leave any questions in a comment below :)

Products I used:
* Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer
* Shiseido The Makeup Foundation Stick in Natural Deep Ivory (I60)
* Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in BEIGE Medium 2-2.5
* Smashbox Luminizing Lotion in Flash
* NYC Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720A
* NARS blush in Orgasm

Brushes:
* ELF studio powder brush (flat top)
* ELF angled bronzing brush
* Bare Minerals mini kabuki brush

If I’m in a rush, I usually skip the NYC bronzer for contouring.

That’s it for now! Catch you all next time!

Outfit of the Day

Here is a video I recorded of my outfit of the day (OOTD).  It’s a normal autumn day on the east coast. A bit chilly, about 50 degrees F, light wind, and partly cloudy.

The dolman top and long charm necklace I got the other day:
(shirt size: Small)
(click here to go see my Wet Seal Haul)

I need your advice! Should I keep the heart or take it off?? o_O

Faux leather jacket from forever21:
(size: X-Small)

I got this jacket for $20 about 2 months ago and I haven’t seen it online or in stores since. They have similar faux leather jackets on the F21 site, though.

The jacket also came with a zipper-on hood, but I’m not a fan.

Poof Jeggings:
(size: small)
Doesn’t seem very flattering at all, do they? The elastic waist kind of makes them look like old-lady jeans, no? But when they’re worn, looks a lot better! I promise! Just cover up the elastic waist w/ your shirt ;) lol.

These were gifted to me. But I know you can find this brand at TJMaxx, Marshalls, or I think even Macys? They have some cute pieces :)

I like the zipper detail at the ankle.

Bamboo black ballet flats:

These are super beat up and old, but they’re comfy and broken in.
The Bamboo brand is just some generic brand you can get at different stores such as Mandees and other random stores. Nothing special about these flats.

That’s it for my OOTD! It was the first OOTD I ever recorded, so forgive my lack of detail and also the shakiness of the vid.  I hope you all have a wonderrrrful day :)

Oh, and don’t forget: what should I do with that heart on the necklace??

ULTA Haul

Hi, all! :)

ULTA.com currently has some great promotions going on:

  • FREE shipping on purchases over $25: use coupon code ” 512213
  • 20% OFF your entire order: use coupon code ” 49605

You can only use one coupon code per order :(   BUT, if you are planning to spend over $50, use the 20% off code because you get free shipping on all orders over $50 (no coupon code required).

I placed an order on ULTA.com a week ago and just got it in the other day. I just wanted to do a quick haul and show you guys what I ordered. I won’t go into detail about the specific products because I will be doing individual reviews on them in the future.

I just wanted to do this post to share current promo codes for ULTA and also to show you guys what product reviews to look forward to :)

Items I bought:

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette  (as of now, this palette is out of stock again!)
  • NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in “Cottage Cheese”
  • NYX Slim Eye/Eyebrow Pencils in:
    - black
    - white pearl
    - sapphire
  • 3 samples:
    - Versace Bright Crystal Women’s Fragrance :) I like this scent.
    - Beckham Signature Women’s Fragrance -> this one is ok; I personally wouldn’t buy the full size.
    - Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

When ULTA ships your order, they make sure the items are well protected. It came in a large box with a lot of padding. Everything was in perfect condition:

So far, I really like everything I ordered. I want to use all the products for a little longer before I do a full review.  But here are a few photo close-ups:

Have you bought anything from ULTA lately?  What other products would you suggest?

Wet Seal Haul

Today I stopped in Wet Seal in search for a cheap, plain, simple, sweater cardigan — instead of buying one, I bought a mini-skirt, a dolman top, 3 lace tunic tanks, and 2 necklaces. O_o

I’m not a big fan of the fabric quality of Wet Seal; however, I shop here when I’m looking for cheap and simple pieces. I’m not a fashionista and I generally stick to solid colors :P and Wet Seal always has plain, solid tops.

Wet Seal almost always has some kind of sale going on. The current sale is buy one get the second sale item for 1 cent.  All their jeans and sweaters were buy one get the second for $10.  I didn’t take advantage of these sales because I couldn’t really find anything good. The jewelry was buy 1 get the 2nd for 50%.

Without further rambling, these are the items I picked up:

Banded-Bottom Dolman Top ($10.80):

I absolutely love dolman tops! They are loose fitting at the sleeves and super comfy :)
This can also be rocked as an off-the-shoulder top. It’s available in various other colors.

Love Glassheart Charm Necklace ($8.50):
but it was only $3.50 after the discount

I’m thinking about removing the glass heart because it’s huge. What do you guys think?

Pearl Bead Station Necklace ($9.00):

I feel like this necklace is a bit too long. What are some other ways I can wear it?
Wrap it around twice? Any ideas??

Lace/Ponte Pieced Mini Skirt ($19.50):

This is more than I would usually pay for a mini skirt. But for the longest time, I’ve been looking for a skirt that had partial lace detailing on it.  I’d like it even more if the lace were beige or a lighter color.

Here is a close-up of the lace detailing:

Lace Tunic Tank Top ($5.00):

I liked these because of there is lace detailing. The tank is pretty long. I’m 5’4” and it covers my butt. I think these would be great worn alone or layered underneath a sweater or cardigan.

They were only $5, so I picked up 3 different colors. :)
A girl can never have enough tank tops!

Oh yeah, apparently I once opened a Wet Seal Card with them so I got 10% off my total purchase. I had no idea, but I guess they can look it up by your name and your address? *shrug*

That’s it for my Wet Seal haul. Stop in if you’re shopping around, you may find some good buys!

One of my Favorite Snacks!

cottage cheese + apples + granola bunches

I know, I know — COTTAGE CHEESE!  Most people automatically assume cottage cheese is gross because it’s chunky and curd-like (haha!). I will agree that it doesn’t look appetizing, but I love snacking on this stuff!  I won’t eat it alone, but it is quite delicious if you pair it with the right compliments.

Cottage cheese is very healthy; it’s low in fat and carbs, but packed with protein and calcium!

What you need:

  • 1 apple  (use a sweet apple like Fuji or Golden Delicious; avoid sour green apples
  • 1 cup of cottage cheese (I use non or low-fat, but 2% will taste better
  • 1/4 cup of granola (I use Just Bunches, but any granola will do)

Preparation:

  1. Peel the apple (optional)
  2. Dice up the apple
  3. Scoop some cottage cheese on top of your diced apples
  4. Pour some granola on top of the cottage cheese and apples
  5. Eat & enjoy!
mmMmm, omnomnom!
Of course if you’re a cottage cheese virgin, you may want to begin by using less cottage cheese and more of the tasty apple and/or granola.  Tailor it to your satisfaction!
Cottage cheese is also very omnomnom with peanut butter.
Give it a try ;]

Do You Have an iPhone?

You can get a free sample of the Tarina Tarantino pearl glow primer. All you have to do is download the Sephora App on to your iPhone and show it to them at the cashier in stores.
You can also redeem it with your online order if you enter the promo code “TARINATOGO”.
The sample is not just a small packet; it’s a pretty decent sized bottle (almost 10 mL). It’s a cute little bottle with a pump. I like small travel sized products because it’s a great space saver if you are trying to keep things in your purse.

Here is the size as compared to my iPhone.
I’m not sure how long they are doing this for, so hurry! Go get yours!

Goodies From the Sephora FF Sale

The sephora friends and family sale is going on until NOV 3 — so you still have time to get these items if you want them. There are some good deals!

See my previous post for tips/things to remember when shopping on sephora.com.

Items I bought from the 2 orders I placed from www.sephora.com:

Items and the price after the 20% discount:

* DiorShow All For Your Eyes Set – $19.20  (wow, what a steal!)
The mascara itself is $24! But it also comes w/ an eyeliner pencil & eye makeup remover.

Shiseido The Makeup Stick Foundation in I60 Natural Deep Ivory – $30
I know, it’s expensive! But this is almost my exact skin tone plus it’s the only foundation I’ve come across that gives me the perfect coverage without looking cakey/chalky or feeling heavy.

Smashbox Eye Shadow Palette in Classifeyed - $12 !!!!
Smashbox eyeshadows are usually super expensive, so this is definitely a good deal. These are some great colors; plus, the palette also includes a 2-sided brush and a large mirror. WIN!

NARS blush color: orgasm – $20.80
Since this blush is sooo popular, I had to try it out for myself. I’m usually reluctant to pay this much for blush. I’ll have to see if it lives up to all the hype! (will do a separate blog post on it another time)

* Burberry Coffret – $28
Includes: 0.15 oz of each of these Burberry scents: Burberry, Weekend, Brit, London, and The Beat. These smaller sizes are great for travel or just to keep in your purse for on-the-go needs!

Plus some samples:
(I ordered the same samples w/ each order I placed. They only sent 2 samples w/ my 2nd order by mistake :[ boo. Oh well, it's only a sample.)

I found this item by searching “Smashbox” in the search bar and then sorting by price. You will not find this in the sale section.  There are a number of other smashbox items that are being sold for cheap. (I bought both in a previous order and they’re great products)
The Instant Eye Shadow & Liner Palette (value: $67, but it’s only $15 now!!! plus 20% off)
Jetset Waterproof Eyeliner (value: $22, but it’s only $5 now!!! plus 20% off)

All of these items are full size:

A close-up of the NARS blush:

It’s a peachy pink with some subtle gold shimmers.

Swatch:

I love sales. I love free shipping. I love free samples. That’s why this friends and family sale was great.
I’m so tempted to place another order… BUT, I must refrain. Self control…

20% OFF at Sephora.com

Sephora is having a friends & family sale. It’s only valid at www.sephora.com and is running until Nov 3. Get 20% off your entire purchase when you enter the promo code “FF2010” at checkout.

I already placed 2 orders. I placed one order on Friday evening, and a second the next day. I already received my first order today (Monday)! (shipping to the east coast is so fast since it ships from Maryland)

Things to remember/tips for shopping on sephora.com:

* Free shipping on orders over $50 and 3 free samples with each purchase.
So if you are planning to spend over $100, place 2 separate orders so you can get 6 samples :0]

* Shop their sale section! Sort by price: low to high to check out the best deals!

* Read reviews! You don’t always want to trust others — and reviews are opinions, but when you see a recurrent statement that comes up with each review, it’s most likely true. Keep that in mind!  Also, just don’t look and see that a product is rated 5 stars or 2 stars. Look at how many people rated the item! The more reviews, the more reliable the rating.

* Utilize the “Search” and “Sort by” features on the site to narrow your search and find the best deals.
You can search by type of makeup (stuff for face, cheeks, lips, eyes, etc.) or you can search by brand. Then from there you can sort by price and find the best deals.

Happy shopping, all!
